This project with the GE’s New Media Technologies team really challenged me to deisgn for a responsive framework. Not only did I have to be sure the design I came up with for their intranet app worked on a mobile phone, but it also had to be functional and easy to use on a tablet!
Create a mobile and tablet app for GE to accompany their desktop intranet platform. The design accommodated the needs of the majority of the 30,000 employees at GE who were going to use the app including:
easily post news, articles, documents
share documents, content between individuals as well as groups and teams
General Electric Company (GE) is an American multinational conglomerate incorporated in New York and headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. As of 2018, the company operates through the following segments: aviation, healthcare, power, renewable energy, digital, additive manufacturing, venture capital and finance, lighting, transportation, and oil and gas.
As a contractor with Orbtec, I worked on comparative analysis, site maps and wireframes for GE’s New Media Technologies team.
The comparative analysis included a comparison of user feedback of enterprise social networks. This helped me better understand which features worked and didn’t work in this type of online environment.
The site map laid out all pages and features to be included in the app.
The app was designed to be responsive so that users could have a seamless interaction regardless of which device they were using, tablet or phone.
